STOP the bus…I want to get off!
During my life there have been many occasions when I’ve experienced overwhelm. So much going on, life going at bullet train fast speed, trying desperately to keep my head above water. I’m sure many of you may relate? What I’ve since learned through these past experiences is that now when I feel these emotions start to rise within me it’s my cue to retreat, slow down, breathe and journey within.
Within my home I am fortunate to have a dedicated space for meditation, the moment I step into this zone the energy is palpable. I can smell the lingering incense and aromatherapy, the presence of various colours of the crystal kingdom, the earthy tones of the room which keep me grounded and supported, while the cuttings of flowers from the garden bring light to my soul. It’s all of these aspects and my intention to quiet and still the mind that enables me to focus and realign my energy.
Often times in life we can be so busy and especially in these current changing times during the global pandemic there can be so much “busyness” with our minds overfull with worry, concern, anxiety and fear of the unknown. We can often feel that we want to get off the bus or merry go round of life, to escape, to find our solitude, our personal sacred island.
It is imperative during these states of awareness that we be gentle with our thoughts, to listen to our soul’s messages on a daily basis and connect within. It is when we turn inward that we are able to gain the clarity, the focus and the courage to continue when life can sometimes turn less than delightful!
Our homes are our personal sanctuary, the place where we may retreat for nourishment at the end of a busy day or in times of stress so that we may press the re-set button and find our inner peace and the sustenance to continue.
Our founder Denise Linn states that there are 4 things that a soul requires in a home:
- A sense of belonging
- A feeling of security
- Harmony with nature
- Sacred space
When we create a home that gifts us the above requirements it can help us to find the strength to continue, to build our reserves so that even when life throws us challenges we are able to pull ourselves back up and keep going with ease and grace.
I encourage you to create this sanctuary, this place of solitude within your home. It need not be an entire room, simply a dedicated comfortable chair in the corner of a room may be all that you need to find your solitude. Finding a space and creating the energy to nourish your body on a daily basis enables you to connect to your soul’s mission here on Earth. You do not have to search the world for your sacred island, as your sacred island and solitude resides within.
