March means springtime to so many people and it’s combined this year with a New Moon time right around that Vernal Equinox. It’s a super boost of energy around ACTION… growing the seeds of what you wish for in 2023. It is the time of your that the verb ACTION is literally happening, in the ground, in the wind, in the plants and the animals.

“The New Moon- It pulls water in the soil up toward the surface and encourages seeds to swell, roots to extend, and leaves to grow. The New Moon is by far the best opportunity for planting any kind of plant or crop that grows above ground, including lettuce, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage.”  – from various farming websites.

Before you plant any garden, you have to clean it out first… you have to release the remains of the past, strengthen the soil, and then plant. And you have the time, right now, to take that action.

Applying that philosophy to your life, sans garden, you might be looking at what old habits, commitments, patterns, or just stuff are you trying to carry along and STILL be able to grow something new. Does is feel realistic? If you are so busy holding on, dragging along, and maintaining the past, you might not have a free hand to start any new seeds.

The world has changed… and methods and lifestyles that worked great 5 years ago, seem not relevant to today’s world. Whether it’s rethinking your career, or even what you do for fun, it’s time to see if everything in your schedule, and everything in your home, really makes sense for your life moving forward.

Feng Shui for Making Life’s Garden Ready

  1. Deep Cleaning – Yes… pull out the couch, check behind the refrigerator, wipe down the walls and clean the windows.  It’s amazing what kinds of fresh energy fills your home with the dust and filth of the past is gone. What also happens, is with all that movement of furniture (and you!) you are doing a space clearing of sorts as well. You are making the stagnant energy leave.

  1. Clutter Clearing – Different than deep cleaning… before you put everything back, really ask yourself… is this something that makes my life better moving forward? Is it useful for future growth?  Or is this a husk from a past season?

  1. Banish the Broken – Now is not the time to keep things that are not working in your home. If you have not repaired it by now, realistically… are you going to? Release those items that are non-functional, threadbare, or otherwise diminished in chi (Exceptions are beloved mementos that have real meaning and their wear tell a story of love, like Velveteen Rabbit)

  1. Tend the Soil – How can you start something new, if you and your home’s chi is depleted from supporting all that you have been doing? To nurture the chi in your home, bring in fresh energy, through live plants, essential oils, green colors, and plenty of sunlight or full spectrum lighting. Our houses thrive on energy from nature, so open the windows for fresh breeze and birdsong. Soon, your home will feel like a place where new things can happen.

  1. Make a Seed Map – Just when planning a garden, you have to know how much space each item will take. Take a look at your life, your time, your energy, your needs, and determine what projects and practices are a part of your time moving forward. In a garden all plants suffer when too many are planted in too small of a space. You can’t just always add more. Look at your home… are there too many items, objects, tchotchkes ? You can also look at your calendar, or online appointment book… does it feel like there is room for growth? It could be time to release those items now!

Now you are ready for those new tender seeds of the future to grow!

Love,

LuAnn
