When people seek out a feng shui consultation, it’s rarely because everything is already perfect in their lives. More often, they find themselves at a crossroads—seeking magical guidance, clarity, or a way to unblock the flow of good fortune. It’s as if they’re wandering a parched desert, hoping to find that life-giving oasis.

This month’s energetic theme is Trust—an invitation to tune into your inner knowing and believe. In the system of Instinctive Feng Shui, we understand this deeply. While we may bring tools and techniques to adjust energy, we also know that our clients hold the deepest wisdom about what feels right or wrong in their own space.

In a world that often feels overwhelming, cultivating a sense of safety in your home is one of the most powerful things you can do. Physical, emotional, and spiritual safety are essential—and according to feng shui, one of the four core soul needs for feeling truly at home.

While feng shui often includes clutter clearing, it’s important to remember: clutter clearing is not the same as minimalism. Clutter, as we define it, is anything you don’t use or love. But if you love something and use it—even if you have a lot of it—it can actually uplift your space and energy. For instance, if you adore shoes and keep them neatly organized, they can make you feel abundant and joyful, not cluttered.

On the other hand, items that are broken, unnecessary, or energetically heavy (such as gifts from people who harmed you or purchases from painful times) can make your space feel dense and unsafe. Holding onto these items “just in case” comes from a mindset of lack. Releasing them is a powerful affirmation of trust in life’s abundance—and will immediately raise the vibration of your home.

Being Prepared is a Form of Feng Shui

Creating a sense of preparedness can offer profound comfort in uncertain times. It’s not about fearing the worst—it’s about trusting yourself enough to feel ready. Here are a few soul-aligned ways to prepare:

1. Stock your pantry with love.
Fill your shelves with foods you love and use. In ancient times, staples like rice and salt were symbols of wealth. In traditional Chinese culture, water represented the flow of prosperity. A well-stocked pantry for you and your two-legged (and four-legged!) family members acts as an energetic security blanket.

2. Embrace the Scout motto: Be Prepared.
Preparing for emergencies doesn’t attract negativity—it empowers you to navigate anything with grace. Do you have flashlights, batteries, solar chargers, and essentials for power outages? Do you know where you’d go in case of evacuation? Keep printed maps and important numbers handy in case the digital world takes a nap. Like wearing a seatbelt, it’s not because you expect disaster—it’s just wise to be ready.

3. Create visual safety and emotional calm.
Look at your home with symbolic eyes. Turn off the constant stream of news when you can. Surround yourself with artwork and objects that evoke peace, comfort, and connection. Let your home reflect images and landscapes that whisper “you are safe” to your spirit.

Trust is an energy you can choose and cultivate—both within yourself and around you. Feng shui is not just about placing furniture. It’s about creating a sanctuary where your soul feels held, seen, and safe.

Let your home be your partner in trusting the journey.
