As many who know me are aware, I’ve dedicated my life to a state of play, embracing childlike curiosity, wonder, awe, and joy. Now steeped in deep love and acceptance of who I am, who you are, and dream of a unified humanity.

But it wasn’t always this way.

I used to wake some days wondering what it would be like to be someone else, someone content with the status quo. Happy, even, with the home, the ring, the wedding, the kids—the everyday sameness, and more and more serious as every year goes by.

Comfortable in staying in one place, uncurious about what lies in others hearts, minds, and worlds. Desiring to “be like everyone else,” birthing a child only to teach them how to conform, be good and proper and right, how to tick all the boxes, and then uncomfortably fit inside.

Even re-reading this, I realize none of this was ever me.

I was not born to fit in, to keep up with the Joneses, to follow the well-trodden path, to tick boxes, create a few happy memories between a lot of complaining, retire and die.

I was born to ask ALOT of questions.

To press PLAY in my unique way, every step of the way.

To colour outside the lines, paint the sky purple, talk kindly to animals, and listen deeply to the stories of strangers, outcasts, rebels – all those who ignite my heART with playful delight.

I don’t care whose grass is the greenest on the other side.

I live to try new things, to fail and succeed and fail again.

To aim to ensure that every day counts.

And instead of an “ill be happy if, and when,” to choose an existence where my heART is joyfully soaked in playfulness every day, yes, even amidst sadness, challenges, heartbreaks, and triumphs.

I’ve heard it all: “Why can’t you just follow the rules? Do the right thing. You’d marry him and have children if you truly loved him.”

Really? That’s the best we’ve got! With 8.118 billion people on Earth, and we still expect everyone to be the same, with identical hopes, dreams, and ways of BEING …

I don’t live this way to prove anyone wrong, to compare, or to convince others that my way is the way. For most, it’s not.

I live this way as play because for me, there is no other way.

It’s taken decades to accept that I was born to live, love, lead, and adventure as liberated, wild and free as I can. And to acknowledge that my life is my greatest piece of art, an unfinished novel, a Huckleberry Finn adventure, and my greatest pride and joy.

So, if you come across someone this month who lives a bit differently, instead of fearing or judging, why not ask them if you can PLAY? Imagine how our lives and world could change if we embraced more playful curiosity of others ways and ignited even more moments of connection, togetherness, presence, and joy.

Let’s create a playful memory this month that lasts a lifetime.

And yes, I truly believe that PLAYFULNESS will save our lives and world. ❤️

Big PLAYFUL love, K
