As I sat at my desk grading papers in between classes, a student whom I did not know stepped into the doorway, stood still for a moment, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath. Surprised, I asked what she was doing. She responded by saying that it just felt really good in my room, and she needed some peace before she goes to her next class.
At the beginning of that year, I arranged my classroom with intention, seeking a calm and nurturing environment, creating a safe space for myself and my students to creatively express ourselves. I never thought that the energy would draw in other students just walking by to seek those same energies in the room, making a difference in their day as well. These experiences reminded me that making changes within a space with intention can have a positive impact beyond the original intention.
The condition of the spaces in which we live and work reflect our mindset and emotions when we set up and maintain those spaces. Just as we make choices in our daily lives, we have also made choices about where we are living and how our homes are set up – the furniture style, colors, images, scents, lighting, and more.
Interior Alignment® Feng shui and space clearing provide a variety of tools to support us in making these intentional changes, which can lead to true transformation in our lives and also ripple out to impact others. Check out these three quick tips to begin shifting your space to create a wave of intentional transformation.
- Start with a Specific Intention
Create an intention that integrates the intended purpose of the room with what you desire to experience in that space. Even if you are not clear on a specific outcome, focus on how you desire to feel while you are in that space. For example, if you desire to experience more freedom in your life, imagine how you will feel when you have that freedom. Is it joy, creativity, passion, or something else? Focus on those desired emotions when choosing objects, colors, and images, and when arranging your space.
- Release what’s not in Alignment
Release those things that are not in alignment with your desires. These “things” can include physical objects, like clutter, or beliefs and emotions that block the path to achieving that which you desire. And remember to focus on what you do want to attract as you release what doesn’t fit.
- Surround Yourself with Joy
Finally, make sure you surround yourself with images, colors and objects that bring you joy and that represent or hold the essence of what you desire to bring more of into your life. A picture is worth a thousand words; images are constantly sending and reinforcing messages to us. Choose images that are inspirational and uplifting and draw us into what we desire to achieve.
Remember that even making small changes in a space can impact not only our own life but all those who may interact with the space in some way.
