We all need a little inspiration .. yes even K ..
There was a morning recently I felt a little out of sorts ..
After waking up tired of all the worldly despair, I felt confused by the division and grief in the world and more saddened by what lies ahead. In between moving house, I’d had an extra full-on week with clients and was working with a newgroup of teenagers who had lost all hope and inspiration for life. Alongside this my heart felt slightly enraged by our governments lack of SOULutions, conversation, community building initiatives and acknowledgement of the long term mental health consequences and deaths being caused by the ongoing isolation and lockdown in Australia .. and yet, I also reminded myself that as souls living this human experience they too were doing the best that they knew how!
While sitting by the ocean and feeling deeply into all this, some friends messaged me that they were also experiencing a lot of tears today, so I meditated to Rage Against the Machine (that’s my thing haha) and let myself feel it all some more. As I did this, I realized how far I had come from my investment banking days. The tears, anger, disappointment, confusion, and rage inside my heart would have been distracted, avoided, and possibly not even noticed back then. So as I sat crying I also felt a deep pride knowing I was finally comfortable to FEEL it all.
Meanwhile, I realized I was also feeling fragile, and I started to talk myself out of jumping into the ocean. “What difference would it make anyway, I was feeling so shit, not even the ocean could help!”
Looking up, I caught a glimpse of a lady diving under huge waves, and I was inspired by her playful smile, so I decided to join her. We both smiled as I entered the water, swam beneath the waves as they crashed along the shore and lay for a while to let the water cleanse my body and soul.
As we both got out, I thanked her for her inspiration on this day and shared how “most days I’ve got this, even in the midst of the coldest rainiest of winters days I’m usually pretty great at keeping myself inspired though today I really needed her dose of INSPIRATION.”
She smiled and said “no doubt darling there will come a day and you will be my inspiration to dive right in.”
I was tenderly reminded by her sweet words that we aren’t meant to do life alone. We all need inspiration, love, and support on certain days. And you never know who your brave and courageous ACTIONS will inspire though inspire others they DO & WILL. Thanks to this this random stranger I then had the energy to create and write this story, run 2 workshops and INSPIRE 5 client’s lives!
This month, I would like to challenge you to BE and receive a little dose of inspiration, and observe how it shows up in even the simplest of everyday moments. Whenever I let go of forcing and trying and instead connect to the moment and allow it to flow on through, I have found the most joyous inspiration arrives. Yes, It is in the BREATHING in and accepting of life …the sweetness of inspirare arrives. Yep, the Latin word INSPIRATION means “to breathe into, inspire” as in drawing air into the lungs. While living in the midst of busyness and confusion, or feeling caught up in a roller coaster of emotions, we tend to forget to BREATHE and welcome this momentous freedom.
Once you take a deep breath, if you’re not sure where to begin this month, here are a few simple and enJOYable daily inspirations. The best part is, if you do not have time, or are cranky like me on this day, you can choose to simply enjoy most of them for 1 minute or 10 minutes.
- Get into nature
- Turn up the music and sing and dance as loud as possible
- Choose any form of movement to get your energy flowing
- Travel somewhere new, even a new park or place in your home town or planning a trip
- Gift a random acts or words of kindness – even a smile at a stranger or phoning a friend can inspire a shift from within
- Surround yourself with children, puppies, and any form of wildlife
- Schedule an hour or day of spontaneous nothingness and let life lead the way
- Talk to strangers and ask them about who or a moment has most positively impacted their lives
- Meditate and BE in the moment connecting all your senses to remember you are alive
- Prioritise any and all creative pursuits .. especially something new, or that you are unskilled at, less head more heART
- Create a morning routine that starts with sunrise and planning a little INSPIRAITON into your day
- Listen to podcasts, YouTube, TedTalks, Books, Oracle Cards and obviously anything written by Denise Linn that ignites inspiration OR create your own
- Write, journal, express any way that calls
- Choose your friends wisely and spend time with those who INSPIRES you the most
- Face a fear and welcome greater courage and bravery into your mundane days
- Schedule a dinner party and design the meal that most inspires your taste buds
Whatever inspiration you choose, keep in mind that it is contagious, and the more we welcome it, the more we spread #rippleinspiration.
Big love, K
