Don’t you love a good story?
A story that you can relate to because the person in the story is being mistreated like you, or hurt in a way you were… or grieving, angry, frustrated… in a way you identified with.
Don’t you love when that situation is turned around, and this challenge turns into a strength for that person. The frustrated person tries a different approach and is rewarded with success. It inspires us… and teaches us to perhaps look beyond the present hard moment in our own life story.
How many times in your life have you cast yourself as the person who never get the success or happiness? You know, when you say things like “why does this always happen to me?” Don’t be the bit player in your life. You are in charge of this story! While you can’t always change the current plot actions, you can change how you react, and envision that happy ending for yourself. And while you are at it, make it something GLORIOUS!
Imagine making a movie about your life. What kind of movie it might be. Suspense? Romantic Comedy? Fantasy? Action Thriller? Who might play the part of you? Now imagine this movie, not just the past and the present, but how you would write out the future! Tell your own story, and make it a good one! You don’t have to know all the answers of how to get from here to there, just skip those sections, or imagine a magical plot twist! Grab some popcorn and have a grand imagining of this fabulous story!
There is the old saying, that you can’t see for the forest for the trees, meaning that while you are in the middle of all those trees, you have no idea how larger the forest is, or what glorious sites are on the other side. When we are in the middle of life’s problems, it can be hard to envision what possible good can be on the other site. All we can see are the problems. But by flying above the forest of problems, and imagining the whole picture, and what delights are on the other side, sets a much better intention for a wonderful happy conclusion to this next chapter of your story!
