This won’t be going the way you think it will, because I’m not going to be talking about how coffee can help you with your dreams – but probably the other way round!

I was tired, but alert. Cognitive but all over the place. I couldn’t make out what was going on with me because I was feeling great and then dropping into zombie land, where I was the zombie. Before I went to sleep, I asked my soul, “hey, I don’t know what’s going on but I need some guidance, can you help me in my dreams?” Off to bed I went, and in my dream I found myself stood in front of a washing machine that was banging, but all there was inside was black gunk. I woke and wrote down the dream, but couldn’t work out what it was telling me, until I got to my office coffee station. The barista smiled sweetly the first time, the second visit, but on the third she said: “you drink a lot of coffee, don’t you!”. It wasn’t a question.

I stared down into the cup before and saw the same black goo I had seen in my dream. I realised, through my dream, I was drinking way too much coffee. My body (aka the washing machine) wasn’t able to deal with it, so it was just banging about.
