By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”  -Benjamin Franklin (apparently)

With the card Purification comes the nudge to clean up your act in some way.  We all have places where we could be a little better; and If you think of many, make a list and just pick one – This is not the time to feed the bonfire of self doubt.

I would like to talk about approaching purification practically. What is called for is a little reflection first. This is not the razzle dazzle of the grand reveal, this is the ground work to find out what you are dealing with.  Once your have identified what needs adjusting, or the final effect you would like to have, it is important to figure out what you are trying to clean up. I have done many Space Clearings where my client confided in me that she had walked around her space with a smudge stick and it didn’t really have the desired effect. She felt confused and a little let down, and wanted to know why it didn’t “work.” Just like a dust cloth is not going to clear up the soot stain on your dining room wall, a little smoke purification will not release the energy from years of resentment at the kitchen sink that was left there by someone who didn’t want to do the dishes. Similarly, breaking up energy with a huge loud drum might be too much to release a misunderstanding with your partner about what time the plumber was coming.

Good preparation will lead you to success with Purification. There are some basic steps to solving a problem.  First is to define the problem, the second is to diagnose why this is happening, Then identify the best solution and implement it. Finally check your results.

Sometimes there are complications in identifying the best solution. You have to start with what you think will work and then, check.  Often it is easy to misdiagnose a problem. Some disturbances to your tranquility will have several causes. Don’t be afraid of trying the simple fix first, just be prepared to go a little deeper if it doesn’t bring you your desired results. Try not to repeat an unsuccessful solution, it will begin to erode your belief that there is a solution and that is the path to resignation, and not in a good way!

This can be prepared for as well.  When you are identifying the best solution, if you think of a few, write them down, and be prepared to try them in sequence. That way if your first attempt to prevent yourself and your family from dumping armloads of stuff on the kitchen counter and waiting for the kitchen fairy to clean them up does not make the adjustment that you would like to see, you have another thing to try.

I have found that by being diligent with your preparation, the steps of purification can bring about truly magical results.

Go forth and Sparkle!
