As I sat to breathe and feel into the energy of the sacred WHITE BUFFALO this month, I was reminded of the steady, stable, and solid foundation I feel called to ignite from within at this moment in time.

Each step I take requiring more intention, poise, and presence than ever before. And yet, combining this with a deeply gentle willingness to diligently care for myself and keep an eye on loved ones around me.

I grew up believing that my job was to make sure everyone else was happy. The problem with this external fixation is that the more I tried to make everyone around me happy, the further away from my own happiest, and inner peacefulness and wisdom, I became. I welcomed instead, the perfectionist, the rescuer, the people pleaser, and spent my days ensuring nothing I said, or did, would upset anyone else.

As a kid I slept, sometimes shivering, and freezing, on top of my sheets in the hope that I’d wake to a picture-perfect bed and my mum would be happy. I never shared with anyone, including myself when I was sad, angry, anxious, or upset. From being bullied at school, to finding myself in the police station at 16years after two guys from school smashed in my taxi to avoid paying the driver $10, to waking up drugged in a gutter in Greece, followed by hospitalisation due to a motorbike accident or even when I was being emotionally abused by my drug addict boyfriend. Why … well I guess not wanting to upset or bother anyone had become such a deeply ingrained habit I didn’t know any different. So, along the way in becoming determined to prove I was always OK, and didn’t need anyone, I decided I’d figure all of life out on my own.

The truth is though, we are not built to do life on our own and no one wants to live with the pressure of having to be happy, all the time, it’s exhausting and even boring.

Through burnout, after burnout, and many a dark night of the soul wakeup call, I finally came to realise it is simply my presence, in this very moment, and the next, that is truly the only thing needed .. less pushing, forcing, proving or trying to make everyone else happy .. nothing more, nothing less, similarly to the majestic presence and rarity of the white buffalo, our essence, our love, is more than enough ..

As our world continues to move through these changing and uncertain times, we cannot know exactly what is coming next, we cannot ensure everyone’s happiness, though we can in certainty choose how we are showing up each day .. with greater levels of love, kindness, hope and compassion.

This divine creature is prophesised to be a sign of hope, balance, abundance and good times to come .. and so this month, in her honour, I too will do my best to BEcome a tiny dose of this in the world through simple BEing all of me moments, and I invite you to choose ways to #pressplayyourway and do the same.

big love, K xx
