Words have power. When crafted together in just the right way they tell epic tales that can entrance and beguile. Even single words can silence a room when spoken with enough emotion. The research of Dr. Masaru Emoto showed how a single written word on a jar of water could influence its nature – creating beauty at the molecular level. All of this is to say that words matter. Words make a difference.

So when I work with clients in feng shui or space clearing consultations, I reinforce the importance of defining their intention using words that have meaning to them and truly represent their desires. Some clients have had intentions that are half a page long, while others struggle to write anything down.

In either case, I ask them to focus on just a few words to help to define and refine what’s truly important to them. What I’ve found is that so many times words are open to interpretation based on individual experience. It’s helpful to have people play with a word or two, see how it feels. For instance, love for some can be an ideal they hope to attain someday, while for others a painful memory, and still others a path to healing. Faith brings joy and security for some while others feel suspicion and even contempt. Abundance meanwhile can translate into financial stability or strong family ties or the ability to travel around the world. Selecting words that will make a difference can be more difficult than people realize.

Eventually, playing with the words and how they feel can lead a client to a revelation about what they really want versus what they first thought they wanted. Once they identify the right words that resonate with and support their goals, this is where the magic happens. That resonance is a client truly feeling the intention and understanding on a deeper level what it is they want and can make the difference between results and phenomenal results.

So next time you’re working with a client, and they are looking to define their intention, pay attention to the words they use and ask them to dig a little deeper. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at the difference it can make.
